To lead a good life, it becomes integral to implement positive behaviour and attitude in everyday lives. The best age to learn these is childhood, which is why educational institutions focus on teaching life skills and becoming good human beings. In life, when adults face difficult and complex situations, they react the way they have been taught in their childhood. This makes it extremely important for educators to impart good habits in children.

To ensure that students lead a life on the right path, positive behaviour must be inculcated in them. Teachers should implement learning and teaching strategies that encourage good moral behaviour in children. This can be done by showing them real-life situations and examples, so that the students learn to deal with various situations righteously. Here are a few effective teaching methods to adapt in the classroom.

Moral values in students

Ways to Inculcate Positive Behaviour in Students

1. Use of Positive Language

Children spend a lot of their time in school. It is the best place to teach them the importance of good habits and moral values. However, using punishment and fear-based teaching methods isn't the ideal way. Instead, teachers should use positive and empowering language. For example, teaching them a polite way to ask for a pen or apologising to a classmate. Incorporating classroom management techniques, and focusing on the development of rational thinking will help students become responsible adults.

2. Creating a Routine

Small positive actions have a great impact on the human mind, especially at a younger age. Creating a well-structured routine inculcates a positive attitude in students. Prayers and greetings in the morning is a great and calm way to begin the day. This creates a feeling of community and when students feel connected, they are more likely to showcase a caring attitude towards each other. Moreover, as teachers create an organised environment in class, students learn to take responsibility and understand the value of time.

3. Setting an Example

Role modelling and practising the behaviour we expect from students is the most effective way to make them learn. Showcasing them the appropriate behaviour in different situations gives them an understanding of how to act differently in different situations. By exhibiting positive behaviour in class, children soon start imitating the same in their life. Furthermore, this also helps students develop logical and problem-solving skills. Practising respect and empathy in the classroom leaves an impact on the child’s mind and when faced with the same situation, they act similarly.
