The evolution of technology is changing the way we live our lives. From work to education, its impact has reached all parts of the lifestyle. As the nature of jobs is changing, the skills required for the next decade will be much different than today. It has led to a need for a change in our education system. Young minds today need to be taught the skill set required for the future.

The days of traditional teaching and learning are over, the focus must lie upon the integration of digital tools and artificial intelligence in teaching and learning methods. In the space of the digital world, educators need to adopt technological advancements in their teaching methodologies. School curriculum needs an inclusion of visual aids, presentations, videos and much more in teaching. This will help in upgrading the skill set of students and prepare them for tomorrow.

Future of Education

Modern-day Skills that Students Need in the Future

1. Project-Based Learning

Even today in some schools, the main focus of education is on memorisation of knowledge. However, when information is readily available, attention should be given to problem-solving skills. The future will be more about working on projects and alternative solutions to today's problems. This means that the teachers need to work on engaging students’ minds and polishing their critical thinking skills, a shift from presenting information to working on solutions to problems. The ability to identify, come up with alternative methods and implement the designed plans is what the world is going to be like with technology innovation.

Project-based learning

2. Innovative Thinking

The standardised system of education has always been ‘one approach for all students’. It needs to change for two integral reasons. First and foremost, having one set standard for all is an inappropriate way to judge students' skills. As all children are different, their talent and ability also differ. To bring out the best in learners, the focus should be on giving them the freedom to explore their creativity to boost innovation. The world today needs more inventors rather than followers. Another factor to consider is, with the world depending more on computers and robots, many jobs will be taken over by them in the coming future. Thus, developing independent and creative thinking skills in students becomes very necessary.

3. Technological Abilities

In the age of digitalisation, traditional learning may feel outdated. An advanced skill set is needed to adapt better according to the changing times. Teaching methods need to be updated too, with interactive and intuitive learning being the future. To make learning valuable and worthwhile, students need modern methods of teaching in the classroom. Integrating visual aids and digital tools are a way to incorporate advancements in learning. Technology helps provide a better alternative approach to studying everyday concepts. Personalized teaching in a dynamic learning environment is the future of education.

Modern methods of teaching

Conclusion

Teachers need to prepare themselves for the change in education and be equipped with modern methods of teachings. The best way is to opt for certifications and courses such as PgCTL, which will help them with the necessary skills, such as child development, lesson planning, evaluation techniques etc. Upskilling is necessary for teaching students effectively. However, while opting for the courses, go for renowned platforms like Suraasa.
