- Ten modules with Suraasa, every assignment done on time
Jeslin was a teaching assistant who knew her subject a little but not how to handle students. By the end she had the confidence to lead a class of her own, and a team that put her profile forward again when one school did not work out.
Assignments, never left late.
Jeslin Sara calls joining Suraasa probably the best decision she made. “The amount of learning that I received was immense, it’s huge,” she says. The course, she says, even helped boost her confidence. “No matter where they throw you, you can actually handle, in terms of the pedagogical part,” she says.
She worked steadily. “I was very regular in completing my assignments. I never kept it till the end,” she says. When people ask her about the course, she tells them perseverance is needed. “You can’t just be laid back and say, OK, let the institute do something.” The assignments might look difficult, she says, but they helped a lot. She sets it apart from a regular certification, where “you just learn something and then you forget half the time”.
I learnt a lot, like 10 modules that we had, it’s like what you learnt for two years.
Her profile, pushed again.
Jeslin is plain about what she was after: “I was a teaching assistant and I wanted to be a teacher.” She describes the move as a career switch. When it came to placements, she says, the team was really supportive. “After a month I couldn’t stay there,” she says. She told the team. “You pushed my profile again.”
