Neha stepped away from teaching for motherhood, and going back to study after the break was not easy. A year later she walked into an interview with lesson plans and resources she had built herself, came out with an offer, and was moved onto probation sooner than ever in 15 years.
Motherhood, then COVID.
Neha Yadav’s break began with motherhood, “and then all of a sudden, this COVID thing came.” The time with her family was precious, she says, but the doubt was real. “I kept wondering if I could really balance it all and restart my career.” The year of study that followed did not just pass by, she says. It brought back her confidence and her passion for teaching.
An interview she knew inside out.
In March she sat in an interview room, her step back into work. The panel asked detailed questions: how she plans her lessons, how she manages classrooms online and offline, how she keeps students engaged even in online sessions. She was nervous at first. “But then it hit me, I actually know this inside out,” she says.
She had come prepared. “Instead of feeling nervous, I showed them the real solutions I had already built,” she says.
I walked into that room hoping for a chance, but I walked out with a job offer.
Two roles, every day.
Every day now, Neha says, she brings motherhood and teaching together. The skills she practised, how to structure a lesson, how to support a struggling student and how to reflect on her own teaching, help her show up for her students and be “a proud role model for my own children.”
Responsibilities have followed the way she presents her lesson plans. Not long after joining, she was moved onto probation. “In my 15 years of experience, this is the first time that the contract period was so short,” she says. She compares Suraasa to a GPS: “They show you the right way to reach success.”
I had my lessons planned and ready, and I had real learning resources I created myself. I had practical insights from all the live sessions.
