Moving from support teacher to her own maths class

- Now

- Before
- Support teacher
- Next
- Finding a path to senior teacher in the next two years
Sruthi was working as a support teacher in Dubai, assisting in other people's classrooms rather than running her own. She cleared the first interview she attended and now teaches secondary mathematics at a British curriculum school, tracking her learners' data lesson by lesson.
The first interview she attended.
Sruthi lists the change in her employment first when she talks about what the course did for her. The new job came, by her account, as soon as she finished. “I’m not exaggerating anything,” she says.
She puts it down to two things she learnt: interview skills and pedagogy skills. Together, she says, they made her “confident enough to crack the very first interview I have attended.” In her video she shows the offer letter she received.
What the data is for.
She says her heads have shown appreciation for the technology she now uses in class. Another change she describes is in her own skills, especially assessment and evaluation. “Now I know the importance of data in the process of learning,” she says. She records different kinds of learner data, and says it helps “me and my students to understand the direction of their learning.” She has also come to value feedback. Timely feedback, she says, helps her students clear their doubts and has given them confidence. She shows some of the feedback her students have given her.
“I am really excited about my future,” she says of life after the course. She has a next step in mind: “I am now ready to find a path that will help me become a senior teacher in next two years.”
I have learnt a lot of technology and apps from the course, which I have utilised in my class.
