Navigating the digital world can be a challenge for educators whose students seem to know more about technology than them.
Here are a few tips for teachers to ensure safe and responsible use of technology.
In this world that's digital and new,
Teachers must know what to do,
To keep students safe from cyber-attack,
Here are tips to help keep them on the right track.
Tip one, be wise and secure,
Make passwords strong, like a fortress, for sure,
Change them often, and don't repeat,
Keep data protected, and never retreat.
For example, Mr. Smith teaches her students,
To create passwords that are unique and prudent,
With numbers, symbols, and letters that vary,
They keep their accounts safe, never have to worry.
Tip two, watch out for scams,
Phishing emails and fake programmes,
Don't click on links, unless it's clear,
That it's from a trusted source, with no fear.
For instance, Mr Johnson knows the drill,
He teaches his class to be aware and still,
Of emails that seem too good to be true,
And websites that look shady and new.
Tip three, keep it professional,
On social media, be ethical,
Don't post or share things you'll regret,
And always remember to be respectful, don't forget.
As an example, Miss Lee is always wise,
She knows that on social media, one must be precise,
She models responsible use, with care,
And reminds her students to always be aware.
Tip four, teach digital citizenship,
Respectful communication should not ever slip,
Online behaviour should reflect the classroom,
And ethical behaviour should be the one to bloom.
For example, Mr Green teaches his class,
About digital citizenship, with no sass,
He teaches about cyberbullying and online manners,
And how to navigate the digital world with banners.
Tip five, balance is key,
Too much screen time, is not meant to be,
Encourage physical activity, and outdoor play,
And limit screen time, for a healthy day.
For instance, Coach Brown, knows the score,
He teaches his team to limit screen time, for sure,
To focus on sports, and other activities,
To balance their life, and avoid tech frivolities.
Navigating the digital world can be a task,
But with these tips, we can take the mask,
And help our students, to be safe and sound,
In the digital world, we can all be profound.
By encouraging our learners to use technology responsibly, we not only ensure their safety but also inculcate in them the principles of responsible digital citizenship.
