Baishali Nandi
Choosing practical teaching over theory alone

- Recommends
- Suraasa’s free masterclasses
- Advice
- Register as they come up, make notes, implement
Baishali had trained the traditional way, where you learn something, go and deliver it, and nothing about the classroom really changes. She went looking for practice she could apply, and now treats every masterclass as something to take notes on and use the next week.
No course is good or bad.
Baishali Nandi starts from the B.Ed course, and does not run it down. “No course is good and bad, it’s how you do it,” she says. Her point is that modern education is no longer the traditional school. Technology has been introduced, and so have new teaching methodologies, and she says it has to have “more of practical hands on experience”. Otherwise, she says, there would be no difference from the traditional way of teaching.
Register, then make notes.
She says teachers enrolled in PgCTL get more as part of the course. But the thing she keeps mentioning to people, including those still wondering whether to join, is the free masterclasses. Her advice is simple. When one comes up, “you go in, register yourself and do it”. She recommends following them strategically and making notes. “There’ll be always something to learn and implement,” she says. She calls them “a kind of very selfless service”.
What you learn and how you want to implement is up to you.
