Nishat moved to Dubai in 2018 with eight years of teaching behind her in India, and found that experience alone did not open doors. Within two months of enrolling she had an offer from a British curriculum school, and now teaches business to Year 12 and 13.

Looking for a way in.

Nishat Mulla says she chose PgCTL because she wanted career progression. In Dubai she was looking for the kind of teaching opportunities she had had in India, and for what she calls “a platform which would increase my employability”. When she came across Suraasa, she decided to enrol. She accepted the offer that followed, and was still studying for PgCTL when she recorded her story.

Observed by the head of department.

The modules, she says, are designed with a practical approach to the classroom in mind. The month before she recorded her story, the head of the department observed one of her lessons. “The feedback was very positive,” she says, and the lesson “earned me a lot of appreciation”. She calls it “an evident impact of the PgCTL course”, and says the concepts she learnt have helped her immensely in improving her teaching and settling into a new environment.

I was surprised to experience the applicability of various concepts I learned in PgCTL.
