Reena taught in India and wanted practical ways to support learners with special educational needs, so she began PgCTL. Four modules in, offers came from Dubai and India; she resigned, sat four interviews in the US and was hired as a special educator in a school district.

Reena Ramesh, who is from India, enrolled in PgCTL during the pandemic, while she was working as a school teacher. She chose it, she says, because it “offers a well-designed programme”, with self-paced videos and weekly mentoring sessions. It began, she says, with pedagogical skills, classroom management and the use of the latest educational resources to create technology-based lesson plans, including for children with special educational needs. “I felt this was the one course fits all approach,” she says. “It was an excellent opportunity for me to upgrade my profession.”
Four interviews from the US.
The first job offers were not from the US. “When I completed fourth module I got job offers from Dubai and India,” she says. Then, around the time of her resignation, four job interviews came from the US. She credits help from Suraasa, including the interviews she attended through it, for what followed. “I was hired as a special educator in one of the school in US district,” she says.
She says she was able to apply the skills in her classes, “giving my best in the classroom using different strategies”. She was also chosen as one of the top ten impact creators at Suraasa’s Teacher Impact Awards 2.0. Her advice to other teachers is brief: “Believe in yourself and your skills.”
I aced two interviews and fetched my dream job.
