Seema is not teaching yet, an educator in intent with lesson plans and no classroom to test them in. Studying child development sharpened her planning and gave her something to use at home, where she can now spot her son's cognitive or emotional difficulties and respond.

Planning for learners to come.

Seema Altaf recorded her account while still a learner on PgCTL. “Currently I’m not working,” she says. The first change she names is in planning. “My lesson planning skills have enhanced tremendously,” she says. “I can now create more engaging lessons and well organised lessons that transform my learners.” In the video she also shows a sample of work she has recently done.

The assessment and the evaluation techniques which I have learnt in this course would definitely help me achieving learning goals for my students.

The second change is personal. Seema says she has learnt a lot about child development stages and theories, and that she uses it when she is with her son. “I can easily spot any trouble with his cognitive understanding, social or even emotional development,” she says. “And at the same time I can give solutions to this.” As an educator, she adds, “I believe it’s a great achievement.”

She also says the course has raised her confidence. “I can see myself in leadership roles in the coming years.”
